Dear bloggers,
Thank you very much for your interrest in EenGoedeZaak.nl.
I appreciate you being very fast in commenting on our services, and providing me with new information.
It is situations and dialogues like this that makes life worth living - and proves the value of the internet.
As you can imagine we have no intention of giving donations based on others loosing an income.
You have told us, that even if we were testing our services - and even if we had it re-tested by external consultants and professional partners - and even if we had it approved from all partners, the service was not perfect.
We regret this temporary lack of perfection and appologize for it!
This is not satisfactory at all.
Thanks to your quick response, however, this was discovered before anyone got hurt.
(As you know we have just launched our service, and we have only got very few users in the Netherlands. And the situation was limited to the types of links that you have shown us.)
So based on your response we are taking action - right now:
We will completely disable the part of our service that has been discussed here.
The programming has already started - and we are doing it as FAST as possible!
(For the service to be disabled we will have to do some programming and after the programming, we will send out the update to our users. The process of sending out the update will take 24 hours.)
We will only be relaunching this part of our conversion- and loyalty creating service to our users, when we have a perfect solution in place.
We celebrate honesty and openness so I do appreciate your comments to us, and as you can see we are also taking action.
Best regards,
Mads Ellegaard,

Dear Ralph Remkes,
Thank you for your interrest in our charity concept and your questions, that I am happy to answer.
I can inform you about the fact that all merchants we work with have accepted us as a publisher - and that they are aware about how we make a difference - not only to the charities - but also to the merchants regarding conversion rate and loyalty.
As you can see from our faq page we are going to publish full lists of how much we are paying to each of the charities. This detailed list is updated yearly. You will also be able to see this in our yearly reports (but as you know we have just launched our charity service). The donation from individual purchases are clearly noted next to each merchant on our shoplist.
Best regards,
Mads Ellegaard

Dear bloggers,
EenGoedeZaak.nl want?s to create a better world by donating money to charities. This is done based on the commission that we receive when any of our users go shopping in one of the shops that we work with. We celebrate openness and honesty, which you can see from all of the details on our website. Regarding affiliate networks and shops we also celebrate honesty and openness, so let me describe exactly how we work and how much we are doing in order to secure a fair trade:
We have a portal and a software, that our users can download and use while going shopping. Regarding this type of affiliate marketing it is important for me to mention that:
1) We will NEVER pop-up irrelevant ads or competing ads to the merchants.
2) We NEVER make auto-installs or auto-redirects.
3) We FULLY comply with the code of conduct for all the major affiliate networks that we're working with ? and they have all APPROVED our technology and services.
4) Our software RESPECT the cookie lifetime meaning that our software will not be active for that user+shop within the cookie lifetime.
5) We have a clear policy that we'll do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE never to overwrite other affiliates' cookies.
6) Our donation services ALWAYS require an active action from our users before our it is activated.
7) We ALWAYS respect cookie lifetime of at least 60 days regarding thousands of sources (see point 8 for details).
8) We hope you understand that it is impossible for us to comply with every networks TC's, however we endeavour to comply with the universal rule of "fairness in all that we do". Because of this we have a list of more than 3000 URLs from affiliate networks, publishers and media. This list makes sure that we do not overwrite cookies coming from theses sources. We invite you to take a closer look at this, and please write to us at if you would like to be on the list. Thank you.

Dear Mads Ellegaard and Jonathan Low,
Thank you for taking the time to reply on this post. As a merchant I have two questions. The tool that you provide to consumers is responsible for transfering normally free traffic, e.g. organic results Google, direct visitors, etc, via your website. As a consequence the merchants pays affiliate commission on traffic which is normal free of charge.
Shouldn't you give the merchants the right to decide themself if they want there affiliate program be used in this way?? As far as I can see you subscribe to all networks and connect all possible shops which use cookietracking programs.
Secondly your website doesn't give any insights of which organization receives which amount? Also the amount of donations in Germany, France, Italy and Netherlands are very similar.
Don't get me wrong, I applaud all ideas supporting charitys. But more transparancy would be a welcome addition to your website.

Hi All
Thnaks for the interest regarding eenGoedeZaak.nl in the Netherlands.
We started in 2004 in Denmark and we are now one one the biggest shopping websites!
Thanks for all the positive attention we are getting in the Netherlands - we are going to do a difference in the world together!
Just to clarify:
We're a Danish charity concept (been running in Denmark for 5 years) now launching in your home country, and we´ve developed a shopping website and a charity plugin - for people to use if they want to support charity, when they shop online. We work with more than 5000 online stores and 700 charities across the world and have raised more than 3 mio. DKK to the good causes.
We celebrate openness and honesty as core values. Therefore I must apologize for the length of this post, but we want to make sure that you understand everything about our project - and hopefully choose to download AidMaker and support a good cause yourself after having read this.
HOW AGOODCAUSE WORKS
We both have a charity shopping website, http://www.eengoedezaak.nl, and a free charity software download. From the website users go shopping in the stores and are able to search for both stores, categories and, soon, products from all merchants.
The software, named AidMaker, includes a number of smart features for the users such as choosing your favourite charity, searching for relevant shops, adding a charity badge to your social network page and more. Is also has a feature to notify our users when a donation is possibly from a participating retailer. We call this our pre-page.
In this way or shopping website and software helps important charities like Red Cross, Amnesty International and Oxfam raise money for their work. This was also the reason why aGoodCause was founded five years ago - the desire from some Danish entrepeneurs to change things in the world that we live in.
FOR THE MERCHANTS
aGoodCause has proven a big success in Denmark being amongst the top performing affiliates. We've received numerous awards including e-commerce awards, innovation awards etc. We offer our merchants the following benefits:
- new customers from shopping lists on the website and in the software
- positive co-branding with the users preferred charity
- added value to their brand
- increased conversion rates
- increased order values.
All this is documented from the Danish markets.
FOR THE AFFILIATES
Considering the debate about Greasy Palm we want to underline the good spirit that AidMaker is made in. We have taken precausions, from day one, to ensure that other affiliates will not have their cookies overwritten. We have even gone beyond the code of conduct from the leading affiliate networks to do so - so we have done things that the industry is not asking us to do - to protect other affiliates!
Therefore the following applies for our charity software, AidMaker (in particular the pre-page mentioned above):
1) We will NEVER pop-up irrelevant ads or competing ads to the merchants
2) We NEVER make auto-installs or auto-redirects
3) We fully comply with the code of conduct for all the major affiliate networks that we're working with
4) We've had the software tested by one of the leading experts in affiliate marketing, who came to the following conclusion:
"I think you?ll be pleased. The essence of my report is that I could not get AidMaker to intercede in any instance where it ought not. AidMaker consistently recognized my prior browsing through others? affiliate links. In all such situations, AidMaker stood down, letting the other affiliate?s cookie stay. That?s impressive. I don?t think I?ve ever tested another loyalty-type software download that successfully achieved this result; I?ve always been able to trick them, often by closing and reopening my browser or restarting my PC. Congratulations on this success."
We've made this protection for the networks that we work with in a number of ways:
1. Our software does not just look at the referring URL, but check whether a cookie is placed - taking into consideration different ways of linking to a merchant site.
2. We respect the cookie lifetime meaning that our software will not be active for that user+shop within the cookie lifetime.
3. We have a clear policy that we'll do everything possible never to overwrite other affiliates' cookies. This also involves a shortlist of more than 3000 affiliate networks that we have added to our database to ensure that our plugin doesn't react either, once coming from their links. Despite of the fact that we're not associated with these networks in any way.
Finally it should be noted that we take further actions than Greasy Palm to protect other affiliates. This includes, amongst other things,:
A) Never using a pop-up not requiring an active action from the user
B) Always respecting cookie lifetime of at least 60 days from more than 3000 affiliate networks.
Please feel free to contact us, if you experience any problems what so ever. We're busy, so we can´t promise to be in this forum all the time. Therefore do e-mail us on directly, if you have any questions, input etc.
Best regards,
Mads Ellegaard and Jonathan Low
